At The Ferry Graham and Aaron waiting at the ferry terminal. Graham, Roddy and Aaron travelled via le Havre whilst Peter, John and Michael (Peters' brother and nephew visitng from Canada) went ahead via Dunkirk and the Normandy beaches.
Flying Lizards Artwork Friday's pit walkabout saw us touring the redesigned "village" before getting worried that we had missed the pit walk only to find that the entrance was now at the top of the pits where parc ferme used to be. A coupe of cars had very interesting paint work including the Flying Lizard Porsche GT3.
At the start We spent Saturday morning in the tribunes waiting for the start of the race. There were going to be two big battles this year. The three Audi diesels versus the two Peugeot diesels (although Peugeot said they were only here for experience) and the six Aston Martins against the five Chevies. This year we had 54 cars to deafen us at the start of the race. You can't beat the sound of all the cars racing past the pits at the race start.
In the dark Saturday night was spent watching from the remodelled Tetre Rouge as well as spending some time inside the S's after the Dunlop Bridge. We walked over the Dunlop Bridge during the night to find that it is now lined with metal and affords no viewing at all.
With your sink When you go camping you've got to be prepared for everything which of course means you need a kitchen sink.
In the mud It rained a lot. Graham managed to sink his car in the mud which was eventually recovered using a tow rope and some tug of war. The race was affected by a brief shower in the first hour and then again at the end when it rained with a vengenance for the last two hours. So much so that even brollies leaked. Made for a very damp Sunday night.
In the pool Maison Blanche had marked camping pitches this year. With all the rain the roads between the pitches turned to mud. This gentleman (!) decided a bit of surfing was in order using a paddling pool as a surf board.
In your pants Oh, and he went surfing to chants of "In your pants". Here he is having just dried his damp derriere on our small bonfire.
What a drag The local tractor saw plenty of action along with Brits in their 4x4s.
On the buses A little muddy
